Hello,
I've been studying historical sources for over 15 years, but I haven't yet done any research in Spain. Now I would like to research the biography of a miner from Alpirsbach in Württemberg (Germany) who moved to Almadén to work in the mines there. The following is known about him:
First name: Johann Ehrenfriederich
First name (variant): Hans
First name, perhaps in Spain: Juan
Last name: Mäusel
Last name variant 1: Mäuslin
Last name variant 2: Meusel
Last name variant 3: Meisel
Birthday: September 22, 1731
Place of birth: Alpirsbach in Württemberg (Germany)
Religion: Protestant
Parents: Johann Georg Mäusel and Gertrauta Maser
A report from 1769 states that he worked in Almadén, but he left his homeland in 1758 or earlier, so he could have been in Almadén as early as the late 1750s. No further information about him is available.
How could I find out if he actually worked in Almadén? Whether he perhaps even married there, started a family, and perhaps even died there?
The Documentación y Actividades Culturales database does not contain any data on Mäusel. The Archivo Histórico Nacional does have archival materials from Almadén, but the associated metadata does not contain any information on individuals, so personal research in the archive itself would be necessary. However, I'm trying to find information first through online sources.
I would be grateful if someone could help me.
Best regards
Uwe
